UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: Evacuations for 2,900 homes are in place in Butte County as the Ponderosa Fire continues to spread Wednesday evening. The blaze has burned 3,150 acres and is 10 percent contained.

Fire crews have made gains against the Detwiler Fire blaze that has scorched 78,900 acres of dense brush and dead trees near Yosemite National Park. CAL FIRE says the blaze is 60 percent contained.

July 22, UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: CAL FIRE continues to estimate the Detwiler Fire at 75,200 acres with 30 percent containment. It has destroyed more than 100 homes and outbuildings, and another 1,500 structures remain threatened.

Evacuation orders were issued for the town of Coulterville due to the Detwiler Fire burning in the rugged mountains of Mariposa County outside of Yosemite National Park, which has scorched 45,724 acres and is 7 percent contained.

Highway 140 through Mariposa is shut down, so park visitors must either enter from the north along Highway 120 or the south from Highway 41.
