Special Project: After The Camp Fire

Andrew Nixon / CapRadio

A sign greets motorists entering Paradise on Clark Road.

Andrew Nixon / CapRadio

This week marks one year since the Camp Fire broke out near Paradise. The blaze started on Nov. 8, 2018, destroying several mountain communities and killing 85 people. There are stories of despair, heroism, loss and recovery. Many former residents are still living out these stories.

All week we'll look at how the fire has changed the region and the people who live there, how residents and those affected are coping, and what's next for the area.

Then on Friday, CapRadio will air an hour-long special from North State Public Radio in Chico looking at where the community is now one year later. Hear stories from those coping with the trauma of the disaster, people who are falling through the cracks, and others who are trying to bring hope through their actions. Listen live Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
